12th edition of Natyanjali in Pondicherry

The Natyanjali spirit has spread far and deep. In a way, it provides for classical dancers of a region to perform on one stage and gives rasikas of the town where a fest is hosted an opportunity to watch dance recitals.

In Pondicherry, now called Puducherry ( 120 kms south of Chennai), the Natyanjali is into its 12th year.

Susairaj who runs a performing arts academy in this town that boasts of its French heritage and is a big draw for tourists, heads the team that hosts the Natyanjali here.

The festival is held at Srimath Guru Siddhantha Swami Devasthanam which is located off the East Coast Road on the northern fringe of the town.

This year, the festival is from Feb.12 to 17. Chennai-based guru Anitha Guha is the special guest at the launch. And the hosts have listed Pondy's chief minister as the chief guest.

The schedule shows artistes from places around Pondy - Villupuram and Cuddalore - performing here. There are also dancers from Kolkata and Chennai, Karnataka and Kerala.
